About the Melancholy Sunsets
For over a year Lizzy has been capturing photography, sounds, and video of ocean sunsets while researching human impacts, both negative and positive, on sea life.
Why the melancholy sunsets?
Each sunset is a bittersweet reminder that another day has passed where the ocean is impacted by the consequences of our actions. From plastic waste to oil spills, more than 80% of ocean pollution comes from land-based sources (source: National Institute of Environmental Health Sciences).
The magical beauty of the sunset attracts the viewer like a siren calling to a sailor. Each sunset is accompanied by a fact about issues that affect the ocean’s health, how the ocean enhances our own wellness, and steps we can take to make a difference.
